Fitness For Children

There is so much emphasis today on keeping our kids fit - when 15-33% of our children and adolescents are overweight, it is easy to see why there is such a need.  However, there is an easy way to get children fit and keep them fit - it is called participation.

Being a parent means being involved in all aspects of our children's lives and ensuring that they have the best shot at life we can give them.  The most important thing you can give them is their health and keeping them fit is part of that bigger picture. 

Involving children in organized sports or activities is an easy way to get them out and fit - it is also an excellent tool on which to build other skills such as interacting with others, being part of a team, etc.  However, even if families cannot afford organized sports or programs, there are other ways to introduce fitness as a family and ways to see progress instantaneously.
